In Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services sector, the Directorate headed by a Director is enjoying the powers and functions of Head of Department. In the Directorate, the Director is assisted by 3 Additional Directors, 6 Joint Directors Level-I, 5 Deputy Directors, 10 Branch Officers and a host of supporting staff. In the field, there are 30 Chief District Veterinary Officers and 7 Joint Directors level-II in charge of 30 districts and 3 FSBs, 2 OBPIs, VOTI & ADRI. 154 numbers of Class-I (Senior Branch) officers designated as SDVO, ADVO, Dy Directors etc are functioning at Sub-Division and District level. 355 numbers of Class-I (Junior Branch) officers and 549 numbers of Class-II (Group-B) officers are working at block level  to provide Veterinary Services  to the livestock farmers of the state.

There are 2 autonomous bodies namely OMFED and OPOLFED promoting production and marketing of milk, Milk products, egg and chicken. These organizations are functioning under the aegis of Fisheries & ARD Department.
